One dead after New Year's day crash in Saluda County

— One man is dead after an early morning crash Wednesday in Saluda County.

According to the S.C. Highway Patrol, the collision happened about 4:40 a.m. on Old Charleston Road.

Deputies say the driver of a 2002 Ford SUV ran off the left side of the road and struck a ditch and a tree.

The Highway Patrol says the man was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
