Deputies: Man shot after giving a stranger directions Thursday

— Deputies say a man was shot multiple times in the upper body Thursday night while sitting in his car off Longcreek Drive.

Richland County Sheriff’s Department Spokesman Sgt. Curtis Wilson said the suspect approached the main in his car in the 1400 block of Longcreek Driver and asked for directions around 11:40 p.m. Thursday.

Sgt. Wilson said the victim began giving the directions when the suspect pulled out a gun and started firing.

According to Sgt. Wilson, the victim was able to get away and drove to the McDonald’s on Broad River Road.

The victim was transported to Palmetto Health Richland. Sgt. Wilson said the victim was able to speak with deputies, but his condition is unknown.
