Lexington boys roll in Florida

Lexington closed out December with an impressive performance at the 19th Annual Hilton Sandestin Basketball Blowout in Freeport, Fla.

The Wildcats went 4-0 to win the tournament championship, sealing the deal with a 66-56 win over Paxton (FL) which entered the game with a 15-0 record. Senior Nelson Spence led the way with 20 points.

Lexington opened with a 60-41 win over Greenville (AL) in the tournament’s opening game on Dec. 27. Mike Morris was the Wildcat headliner with 24 points and continued his stellar production in the next two games. The junior guard deposited 18 points is a 57-48 second-round conquest of Nashville Christian, and he tallied 16 points in the 61-56 semifinal win against Cookeville (FL).

The Wildcats have won seven of their last eight games to improve to 10-4 on the season.

Lexington returns home to face a touring Australia team on Saturday, and hosts Columbia on Tuesday in its final tune-up for the Region 5-4A campaign that begins on Jan. 14.
