BUZZ: Lindsey Graham's plane makes emergency landing

— Sen. Lindsey Graham's flight from Greenville to Washington, D.C., on Monday had to make an emergency landing after passengers reported the engine was "making a strange sound."

Graham, who is up for reelection in 2014, tweeted Monday afternoon that the pilot "declared an emergency" and returned to the Greenville/Spartanburg International Airport.

Kevin Bishop, a Graham spokesman, said firefighters boarded the plane when it landed, but no one was injured. Graham is on his way to Charlotte to catch another flight to Washington, D.C.

"He may be late for the votes tonight," Bishop said. "We'll see if he gets there in time."

Senators are scheduled to vote Monday night on a temporary extension of unemployment benefits.
