Camden man charged again with sex crime against children

— A Camden man previously charged with sexually asaulting a 9-year-old has been arrested once again.

Christopher D. Yates, 39, has been charged with unlawfully disseminating obscene materials to persons under 18. Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office deputies say he sent a 13-year-old girl an obscene photo of himself to her cellphone.

Yates was notified of the charges Monday and turned himself in on Tuesday. He was being held Tuesday afternoon at the Kershaw County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.

Deputies say the investigation began in November, when they arrested Yates and charged him with third-degree criminal sexual conduct following allegations he inappropriately touched a 9-year-old girl on multiple occasions.

An investigator with the KCSO is investigating both cases.
