Wednesday letters: No to tax-funded baseball stadium

January 8, 2014

— I am adamantly opposed to a taxpayer-funded baseball team or stadium in Columbia.

If this were a viable financial option, someone in the private sector would pursue it. “Build it and they will come” is not a reasonable approach for taxpayer money. We only need to look back to Air South to realize this.

If a minor league baseball team were a financial winner in Columbia, the Bombers would still be here.

City Council must vote no.
