— The Richland County Sheriff’s Department continues its search for the suspect wanted for murder of a man at American Inn at 1337 Garner Lane.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said deputies went to the American Inn on Dec. 13 to do a wellness check after family members were concerned they had not heard from the victim. When no one answered the door, deputies were given access to the room and found the victim unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts later identified the victim as Mark A. Edwards, 49, and the autopsy showed Edwards died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIMESC or text “TIPSC” to CRIMES (274637).
