ROCK HILL, SC — A Rock Hill man assaulted an officer and injured his head in the back of a police car after lying to police about his stepson, according to a police report.
Officers went to a home on Russell Street Tuesday afternoon to locate a suspect for whom they had an arrest warrant. At the house, Barron Laviscount, 32 told police the suspect wasnt at the home and wouldnt let officers enter the house, according to the report.
He tried to close the door in their faces, but officers were able to enter the house and told Laviscount to wait in the living room while they searched for his stepson. They found the suspect in a bedroom pretending to sleep.
When Laviscount was questioned about why he lied, he became confrontational, the report stated and officers tried to arrest him. There was a struggle and Laviscount bit one of the officers thumbs, according to the report.
Once he was in the police car, Laviscount began beating his head on the divider between the front and back seats and cut his forehead. He was treated by EMS before being taken to the city jail.
Laviscount was charged with obstructing an officer and assault and battery.
