Thursday letters: Spurrier ended ‘chicken curse’

— I am no football fan, but Steve Spurrier sure deserves credit for the fine job he has done to overcome the “chicken curse” that was the death of many coaches prior to him.

He stuck it out during the building years, and it appears he has built an organization with class and dignity and the ability to compete anywhere anytime. My hat is off to the former quarterback and now legendary coach. Congratulations to a classy gentleman.
