Friday letters: Noting Christmas hurts no one

January 10, 2014

The Veterans Administration has been back in the news, not for its problems related to medical treatment but for its policies regarding Christmas. Regardless of how this celebration evolved, its purpose is to commemorate the birth of the Christ.

Certainly there are many who do not celebrate this event, but that does not change the reason for the season; government agencies should let it be. Those who don’t want to participate will not offend those who do, and those who do celebrate do so without any malice to others.

The president needs to stop trying to protect everyone’s feelings. The other politicos will follow suit, the ACLU be damned, as it probably already is.
