Cause of Lower Richland house fire sought

— Richland County fire officials are investigating the cause of an early morning house fire Friday in Lower Richland.

One person was taken to medical care as firefighters extinguished the blaze in the 3700 block of Leesburg Road near the southern edge of Fort Jackson after being called to the scene about 3:30 a.m.. No information on the person’s condition was available.

The home suffered extensive damage, officials said.

Traffic on the road was reduced to one lane temporarily, officials said.
