— According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, a man has been arrested in connection with a shooting on Broad River Road Thursday morning.

James Galloway, 23, was arrested in Aiken county and charged with two counts of attempted murder after two people were shot during a domestic dispute.

Deputies found the two men in the parking lot of the East Room at 3315 Broad River Road about 7 a.m. Thursday morning.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said Galloway and his estranged girlfriend were arguing when a female friend stepped in. According to Sheriff Lott, Galloway shoved her and that’s when the two men got involved.

Police say Galloway shot one of the men in the lower body and the other man in the upper body. Both suffered serious injuries and are recovering at Palmetto Health Richland and Lexington Medical center, respectively.

Sheriff Lott said investigators determined Galloway had fled to a relative’s home in Aiken County where he was later arrested without incident.

Galloway was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
