ELECTION 2014: Ned Tolar running for Lexington County Council

Posted by TIM FLACH on January 13, 2014

— Businessman Ned Tolar launched his campaign Monday for Lexington County Council in a district centered in West Columbia and the east side of Lexington.

Tolar, owner of a property management firm, said Monday he is running on an anti-tax theme, promising to be a councilman "who will protect pocketbooks."

He opposes a proposed countywide penny-on-the-tax sales tax increase for roads and other improvements that is being developed for a Nov. 4 referendum.

Tolar, active in Republican circles, also pledged to serve a maximum of eight years in the post if elected.

The post is held by council chairman Bill Banning of West Columbia.
