— The Gallery at City Hall presents “Freedom Now: Columbia, SC and the Modern Civil Rights Movement.”

The exhibit is the result of a collaboration among the City of Columbia, One Columbia for Arts and History and ColumbiaSC63.

The exhibit features current and historical photography from archival collections and images by Cecil J. Williams, David Wallace and Vic Tutte as well as staff photographers from the State newspaper. In addition, images taken during 2013 at ColumbiaSC63 events are featured in the exhibit.

Organizers say the exhibit is part of ColumbiaSC63’s larger goal to show the role Columbia has played in the civil rights movement.

The State is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news.
