— Nordstrom Rack will open its second South Carolina store this fall in the former Barnes & Noble spot on Harbison Boulevard.

The Seattle-based company describes itself as the off-price division of retailer Nordstrom, offering 30 percent to 70 percent savings off regular prices for clothes, accessories and shoes.

The State first reported in November that the store was considering opening in the 34,000-square-foot space located in Harbison Court, but company officials would not confirm plans at that time. Nordstrom Rack also announced in November that it will open a store in Greenville this fall.

“We can’t wait to open our South Carolina stores in 2014,” Geevy Thomas, president of Nordstrom Rack, said in a release. “This new location will help us serve customers more conveniently in Columbia and we're excited to bring our take of the ultimate treasure hunt to customers who are brand-conscious and love affordable fashion.”

Barnes & Noble closed its store at 278-A Harbison Blvd. at the end of last year.
