Wednesday letters: ESPN Radio is back; big deal

January 22, 2014

— I am totally underwhelmed at the prospect of ESPN Radio returning to Columbia. It makes no difference what network is showing Gamecock football; I will mute the television and turn on the radio to listen to Todd Ellis and Tommy Suggs. If you’ve never heard them, it’s the icing on the cake to listen to these former Gamecock quarterbacks who love our boys, but also know football and recognize good plays and players.

I’m tired of national media talking about other teams during our games as if they are bored. I really get angry when they leave our game for a glimpse of another football game while we’re on the field, as they did once when one of our boys was on the ground writhing in pain. Since I wasn’t at home I couldn’t find out who was hurt until they returned to our game; even then they talked a moment or so before identifying who was hurt. So, ESPN Radio … big deal.
