CPD looking for two men following Devine Street assault

— Columbia Police are looking for two men who they believe were involved in an early morning assault on Jan. 9.

Investiagtors believe the male victim, who reported he was punched several times around the head and body, was trying to calm down an argument in the 2100 block of Devine Street when the assault occurred.

Officers believe the primary suspect — a taller man with dread locks, who was wearing a black toboggan, black bubble vest and red-and-white plaid long-sleeved shirt — was the aggressor in the assault.

A shorter man — who was wearing red pants, a black leather jacket and a baseball cap — may be able to assist investigators.

The victim did not seek medical attention at the time of the incident but did sustain minor injuries.

Interim Police Chief Ruben Santiago encouraged citizens to call Crimestoppers (888-CRIME-SC) if they recognize the two men caught in surveillance photos.

Tipsters could earn a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
