Fire destroys Blythewood house early Monday morning

COLUMBIA, SC A fire of unknown origin gutted a house in Blythewood early Monday morning.

The fire was on Frick Road, and the Columbia Fire Department got the call around midnight Sunday and battled the blaze into the early morning hours.

When firefighters arrived, the house was fully engulfed and the structure was starting to collapse, said spokesman Brick Lewis.

No injuries were reported.

“The home is a complete loss,” Lewis said in an email.

The cause is under investigation.
