Tuesday's boil water advisory lifted in Richland County

— The City of Columbia Water Works lifted the boil water advisory for customers of Springpond Road and Millbrook Road from Pinelake Road to Clearwater Road. The affected area was near Parklane Road in Columbia.

After an intense flushing of the distribution system, the City of Columbia Water Works said the system is safe to use for drinking and cooking purposes. Customers no longer need to vigorously boil their water prior to drinking or cooking.

According to a release, the City of Columbia experienced an 8-inch water main break Tuesday, which could have resulted in bacterial contamination of water in this area.
