Hoping to encourage people to live heart-healthy lives, the Lexington Medical Center’s “Take 5 for Heart Health” campaign offers many free classes and activities during February.

The “5” in the name refers to the goals of eating right, chilling out, getting moving, learning CPR and calling 911 during heart emergencies. People can sign up for the free classes and events designed to help them accomplish those goals at www.lexmed.com/take5.

The offerings include free passes for roller skating at the Plex at Sandhill and ice skating for the Plex Irmo Ice, salsa and tango classes at Vista Ballroom, cooking classes at The Classy Cruet Olive Oils & Vinegars and nutrition lunch-and-learn sessions at the hospital’s Health Directions center.

Registration begins on Saturday, and class sizes are limited. And since everything is free, the most popular of the offers might be snapped up quickly.

The campaign ends with a health fair on March 2 at the Doubletree Hotel at I-20 and Bush River Road.
