Updated: Coroner releases identity of woman who died in single-vehicle accident in Richland County

— The Richland County Coroner’s Office released the identity of the woman who died in a single-vehicle accident in Gadsden in Richland County around 6 a.m. Saturday.

Nicole Denise Caswell, 36, died at the scene, according to Richland County Coroner Gary Watts.

The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was traveling west on Griffin Creek Road and ran off the left side of the road, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol. The 1988 Chevrolet struck an embankment and then struck a tree, according to the Highway Patrol.

The accident remains under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol.
