akflanagan@thestate.comFebruary 3, 2014

— Fort Jackson post and community officials will conduct a mass casualty exercise Tuesday in order to assess post and community response measures in the event of an actual emergency.

According to a press release, Fort Jackson emergency services and the local community will respond to a simulated chemical or biological attack or a pandemic. The simulated casualties will be transported to several area hospitals. The exercise will focus on mass casualty operations, emergency operations center activation, reporting procedures, emergency responder procedures, and family assistance.
