— Two men were arrested during a traffic stop in the Cordova area Saturday after Orangeburg County Sheriff’s deputies found marijuana and a plastic scale under a vehicle’s hood.

Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said officers conducted a traffic stop of a white Chevy vehicle they saw swerving on Terrace Road.

As the officers approached the vehicle, they noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

“Edward Ervin Hamilton, the passenger, told them he had marijuana in his pockets, Sheriff Ravenell said. “Frederick Akeem Shuler, the driver, told officers he did not have any narcotics.”

“K9 Officer Gomo was deployed and alerted on the driver’s side of the vehicle’s hood. Officers located a plastic container with marijuana inside and a plastic scale under the vehicle’s hood,” Sheriff Ravenell said.

Both men were arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute.
