RICHLAND COUNTY, SC — According to the S.C. Highway Patrol the vehicle and driver involved in the fatal hit-and-run on Farrow Road has been located.
The driver contacted Highway Patrol Tuesday morning after seeing a flier about the incident and told troopers he may be the driver involved in the collision on Farrow Road, Lance Cpl. David Jones said.
Jones also said the driver told the Highway Patrol he notified the Richland County Sheriffs Department Monday morning because he thought he hit something.
On Tuesday afternoon Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said the victim, who was found dead Monday morning just off Farrow Road near I-77 in Richland County, was a 33-year-old homeless man.
A motorist driving by spotted the mans body near a patch of trees, according to Jones.
Investigators said the hit-and-run occured sometime between Feb. 2 and 8 a.m. Feb. 3 on Farrow Road, northbound, just north of the I-77 bridge. The site is close to the Residence Inn on Legrande Road.
