Police: Man, 49, left unconscious in Rock Hill with mysterious injuries

York County authorities say they need the public's help to investigate a Jan. 31 incident in Rock Hill where a 49-year-old man was found laying near a road, unconscious with injuries to his face and head.

The sheriff's office has identified the man as Eric Jay Joseph who sometimes goes by the nicknames "E" or "EJ."

A passerby found Joseph around 11 p.m. last Friday, according to a news release from the York County Sheriff's Office. He was laying beside the road, near the corner of Soulsville and Stan Stella roads in Rock Hill.

The sheriff's office released information about the ongoing investigation on Wednesday afternoon around 1:30.

Investigators do not know yet how Joseph was injured.
