Updated: All flights canceled Wednesday at Columbia Metropolitan Airport

From Staff and Wire ReportsFebruary 11, 2014

All flights were canceled at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport on Wednesday, and few people were stranded, said a spokesperson for the airport.

“We hope flights can begin again tomorrow afternoon at the very latest,” said Kaela Harmon, airport spokesperson.

The airport is working with a handful of people to get transportation for them, but not many, Harmon said.

“We encourage people to keep tracking the website and urge people to contact their airlines,” she said.

Many are waiving change fees, so we are encouraging people to follow up with their airlines to see what their options might be, she said.

Delays and cancellations were expected to last through Thursday. Travelers expecting to fly out of Columbia were urged to check with their airlines Wednesday and Thursday for up-to-date flight information.
