— Richland County sheriff’s deputies responded to an aggravated assault call at a nightclub on Decker Boulevard early Saturday.

The victim was in the restroom at the 1745 Decker Boulevard, listed for Tropicana Nightclub, just before 3 a.m. said Sgt. Curtis Wilson, spokesman for the sheriff’s department.

The suspect identified as Obet Cano-Chacon, 30, approached him and pulled out a black knife, threatening to kill the victim if he did not give up his belongings, Wilson said. The victim escaped from the restroom and alerted security, who disarmed and detained the suspect until deputies arrived, Wilson said.

The victim was treated for injuries in the upper body that were not life threatening, Wilson said.

The suspect was arrested and transported to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
