— According to Lexington County Coroner Harry O. Harman, the woman pulled from her sunken car in the Saluda River Saturday has died.

Rhonda L. Pate, 51, of Lexington suffered an anoxic brain injury, which resulted from fresh water drowning after her vehicle rolled down the boat ramp into the Saluda River Harman said.

Pate became trapped in her car and rolled down a boat launch ramp at Saluda Shoals Park sometime between 7 and 8 p.m. Saturday.

According to Lexington County Sheriff James Metts, Pate had attended a wedding reception earlier at the Saluda Shoals River Center.

The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.
