Inmate charged with assaulting fellow inmates

— Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said a current Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center inmate has been charged with two counts of assault and battery after he threw a chemical blend of water and bleach on two other inmates.

Phillip Young, 25, turned himself in after throwing the chemical blend of water and bleach on two inmates following a verbal altercation at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center at 201 John Mark Dial Drive.

Sheriff Lott said the two victims were taken to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
