Sunday’s boil water advisory lifted for north city area

February 23, 2014

COLUMBIA, SC Customers of Benedict Street, between Christian Street and Gabriel Street, and Christian Street, between Benedict Street and Luke Street, no longer need to boil their water prior to drinking or cooking.

A boil water advisory was issued Sunday following a six-inch water main break in a north Columbia neighborhood.

The area, which is outside city limits, is around Benedict and Christian streets, which are north of Farrow Road and between I-20 and I-277.

According to a Columbia Water Works press release, an intense flushing of the distribution system was conducted, and the results of the samples collected indicate the system is safe for drinking and cooking purposes.
