Boil water advisory lifted near Emily Lane, Belle Valley Lane in Richland County

— The City of Columbia Water Works has lifted a boil water advisory for customers of Emily Lane and Belle Valley Lane in Richland County.

The advisory was issued Tuesday afternoon.

Customers near the affected area no longer need to vigorously boil their water for at least one full minute prior to drinking or cooking.

According to a press release, the City of Columbia experience a six-inch water main break that could have possibly resulted in bacterial contamination of the water.

Following an intense flushing of the distribution system, bacteriological samples were collected and analyzed by the City of Columbia Water Works. The results indicate the system is safe for drinking and cooking.
