RICHLAND COUNTY, SC — Richland County’s dismissed elections director, Howard Jackson, met with SLED for about an hour Wednesday.
Agency spokesman Thom Berry said agents requested additional information from Jackson, who announced in an hour-long news conference Tuesday that he was turning over all documents relating to the 2012 and 2013 elections in a potential obstruction case.
After Jackson provides additional details, “we will then review it along with the solicitor’s office and at that time a determination will be made whether to conduct an investigation,” Berry said.
He did not know a timeframe for a decision.
Jackson was fired Monday after eight months as director of the scandal-ridden elections office.
