— An 18-year-old wanted in an April 2013 shooting was captured in Georgia and sent back to Columbia, police announced Thursday.

Clifton DeAaron Dreher is charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Interim Police Chief Ruben Santiago announced Thursday that Dreher was captured in College Park, Ga., by “Operation Intercept” after a local Crimestoppers tip led to his location. “Operation Intercept” is a task form arm of the U.S. Marshals Service that targets federal, state and local fugitives.

Dreher is accused of killing a male victim at a home on the 1800 block of Tremain Street.

Columbia Police Department investigators believe the shooting was gang-related and stemmed from a verbal altercation between Dreher and the victim.

The victim was driven to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical staff.
