Friday letters: Hospice home went extra mile

February 28, 2014

I’d like to give special thanks to an outstanding rehab/hospice home, the Agape Home on Leaphart Road in West Columbia, for how it cared for my husband, David Smith, who was there until his death in December. All of the health-care staff, including Nancy and Ray, gave outstanding care.

At times, my husband was very strong-willed and refused to go with the program, but the staff adjusted to his individual temperament while caring for him in a professional manner. And when he died, they went beyond their usual care by providing space so that my family and friends could visit and provided us coffee, doughnuts and fruit.
