A tornado drill, part of the statewide Severe Weather Awareness Week, will set off alarms on weather alert radio Tuesday morning.

The annual drill also will prompt many schools to practice their tornado emergency plans. The drill is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Emergency officials warn the public that the code for a real tornado will post on weather radios. While a front will bring unusually cold temperatures to the state Tuesday, severe weather is unlikely. Still, the general public could follow the schools’ lead and use the drill to think through emergency plans.
