Warrants were issued late Thursday alleging that a former student of Laurie Patton strangled her, set her motel room on fire and stole her vehicle.

Darrin Terrell Eskew, 21, of 415 Earle Drive, Greenville, will face charges of murder, third-degree arson and grand larceny, according to warrants.

He was arrested in Banks County, Ga., on Monday, several hours after Patton’s death, after a traffic stop, and the extradition process is ongoing, according to Greenville County Deputy Drew Pinciaro.
