Friday letters: State must keep roadways clean

March 7, 2014

— I thank Diane Gause of Lexington for caring and for her Feb. 11 letter (“S.C.’s roadways need cleaning”) regarding trash along Richland and Lexington County highways. Every time I leave my home, I get angry over all the litter strewn by our roads.

A friend and I frequently pick up litter in a two-mile radius of my neighborhood. This seems like a hopeless situation; without aid from our state I don’t see it getting much better.
