Preview: Ben Lippen baseball

March 7, 2014

Ben Lippen is looking to take a step up from last season’s 10-10 showing, perhaps even challenge Hammond for the SCISA Region 1-3A pennant.

“We have strong senior leadership, we’re strong up the middle and we have a versatile pitching staff,” said Falcons coach John Holt. “But we also have some youth and need to show growth throughout the season.”

Seniors Drew Early, Corbin Newton, Joseph Wise and Joey Barrett, junior Braden Cox and Wil Carter and sophomore Kitt Capell are the returning veterans. Cox is the top returning offensive player after hitting .344 with 13 runs and 16 RBI a year ago.

Freshmen Robert Satcher and Garrison Moore are potential impact newcomers.

The Falcons open region play on March 13 at Augusta Christian.
