TIRRELL BODY

RICHLAND COUNTY A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder in last weekend’s fatal shooting at an Eastover club.

Tirrell Boyd was arrested just after 5 p.m. Friday by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Task Force. Boyd was charged with murder, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and with possession of cocaine.

According to a Sunday morning press release, Boyd was spotted sitting in a truck outside an acquaintance’s home near Ault Road in Hopkins. When deputies approached, Boyd sped away at a high speed, soon crashing on Montgomery Road. Boyd fled into the woods, according to deputies, and was tracked by K-9. He surrendered without incident.

Richland County authorities were called to the Club Climax at 3500 McCords Ferry Road in Eastover around 3 a.m. March 1, sheriff’s deputies said. Travis C. Singleton, 28, of Sandhills Estates in Eastover lay dead in the parking lot from a gunshot to the upper body.

Two other victims were shot in the upper body and transported to Palmetto Richland Hospital. Witnesses said the fatal shooting started out as a verbal altercation inside the club. When it moved outside, shots were fired.
