Jones makes short visit to Clemson Saturday

March 10, 2014

DL DJ Jones of East Mississippi JC, whose home is in the Clemson area, is on his spring break and Saturday he and his father made the short ride over to Clemson to check out some spring practice action. Jones said they didn’t stay long.

“We were there for a minute but then we had to leave,” Jones said. “We had a situation. Just a little family thing. We weren’t even there that long.”

Jones said he didn’t get a chance to talk to any coaches because they were in meetings. “Being from the area I already knew all about it and I told the tour guide I didn’t need to see anything.”

Jones headed to Myrtle Beach Sunday for his vacation so he won’t be visiting any other schools this week. He has not picked up any new offers since he got one from Georgia. He also has offers from Clemson, USC, Alabama, Florida State, Tennessee, Florida State, Ole Miss, Southern Cal, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Kentucky, Arkansas and LSU.

Jones has not yet worked up a favorites list. “That’s going to come very soon but not right now,” he said. “By the end of Summer I’ll narrow the list down to five or six. I’m giving everybody the same amount of time on the phone. Nobody is standing out.”
