COLUMBIA, SC — According to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, one person was killed on South Carolina roads over the weekend.
As of March 9, 125 people have died on South Carolina highways this year compared to 129 highway deaths in the same time period last year.
The SC Department of Public Safety also reports that of the 98 motor vehicle occupants who died in 2014, 53 were not wearing seat belts. The report shows the person killed over the weekend was not wearing a seat belt.
Of the people killed on South Carolina highways this year, 16 were pedestrians, 8 were motorcyclists and 2 were bicyclists.
