Newberry County Deputy Coroner Melody Martin said Todd Hendrix, 46, of Greenwood was killed in the accident, which happened around 4 a.m. Saturday morning.

According to Newberry County Coroner Craig Newton, an autopsy showed Hendrix died from asphyxia due to a mechanical entrapment.

The death has been ruled accidental and foul play is not suspected.

The incident is under investigation by the Newberry County Coroner’s Office and OSHA.

South Carolina OSHA is part of the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (LLR). According LLR spokeswoman Lesia Kudelka, investigations generally take about eight weeks.

Kudelka said SC OSHA will be looking for any OSHA violations that may have in any way contributed to the incident.
