Strip club closes Bush River Road location

March 11, 2014

— The sign was removed from a Bush River Road strip club Monday, and the property is for sale.

Harry Heizer, the lawyer for owners of the now-closed Heartbreakers, said a new club called Platinum West has opened along Old Dunbar Road in Lexington County. It has some of the same employees as Heartbreakers but different ownership, he said.

Richland County negotiated a deal that forced the high-profile Heartbreakers and a lingerie shop next door to close while allowing the nearby Platinum Plus to remain open under what’s called a “grandfather” status, acknowledging its longevity.

Heartbreakers closed March 1, Heizer said.

Richland County Councilman Seth Rose was pleased.

“This strip club should not have been allowed to operate against the county’s sexually oriented business laws for decades,” Rose said. “This is a lasting accomplishment and a new day for this area.”
