Boil water advisory for NE Richland County’s Deerwood subdivision

COLUMBIA, SC A broken 8 inch water main has prompted Columbia water officials to issue a boil water advisory for residents of the Deerwood subdivision in Richland County. The area is in northeast Columbia and bordered by I-20, Clemson Road, Smallwood Road and Sparkleberry Lane.

Residents are urged to vigorously boil water for 60 seconds before drinking it or using it in food preparation in order to reduce the risk of getting sick by bacteria that may have seeped into the water because of the line break.

Anyone living near Deerwood who has experienced a drop in water pressure should follow the same precautions until the advisory is lifted.
