Robert Ford responds

Apparently Robert Ford does know he’s no longer a senator.

Apparently also, someone enjoyed the post I wrote earlier this week about Mr. Ford’s curious compulsion to continue referring to himself as a senator after being forced to resign from the Senate over ethics problems enough to share it with Mr. Ford. Mr. Ford responded with a note back to that person, me and two or three dozen legislators and others that said:

PLEASE, JUST CALL ME ROBERT OR ANYTHING YOU WANT, BUT PLEASE STOP HATING!

HAPPY BEING ROBERT FORD AND LOVING IT!!!

He also attached this brochure, whose purpose seems to be to defend himself against the ethics charges that were his undoing.

This was followed by an email that included a copy of what apparently is the birthday card Mr. Ford is sending to people this year and the following note to the email recipients:

AS YOU CAN SEE, I AM HAPPY WITH ME, YOU ARE LATE AND HATTING FOR NO REASON!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

2014 FROM:

ROBERT FORD

FORMER SENATOR/COMMUNITY DEVELOPER

In another missive he sent out the same day concerning the College of Charleston presidential search, he identified himself simply as “community developer.”

Alas, that does not seem to signal an end to the delusion.

Mr. Ford also sent me a short note that said: “SCOPPE, THE REAL REASON, BUT YOU CAN BELIEVE WHAT EVER YOU WANT!” He attached his letter of resignation, in which he blames his health, and not his pending expulsion, for his sudden departure from the Senate.
