Suspect in February Eau Claire High School vandalism identified, being sought

RELEASED BY THE COLUMBIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

— Columbia police say a tip from the community has helped them identify the person responsible for the $10,900 in damage done to Eau Claire High School the morning of February 15, 2014.

Ivan Lee Smith, 24, of Columbia, is being sought in connection to the break-in and trashing of school property, including graffiti in the halls and breaking the glass on several trophy cases, offices and classrooms, interim police chief Ruben Santiago said in a release.

Surveillance video captured the suspect in the school, which is located at 4800 Monticello Road, around the time of the attack.

Smith is known to hand around the Colony Apartments and Palmetto Terrance Apartments.
