Sunday letters: Why give fox key to hen house?

— A Feb. 19 article in The State (“Runyan: Bolchoz email shows bias”) said a Columbia City Council member wanted the search for a police chief restarted since someone on the search committee had referred to the Police Department as dysfunctional and used that as a reason not to consider any current members for the position.

With all the internal strife, SLED investigations and controversy, why would it not be considered dysfunctional and why give a possible fox the key to the hen house?
