ELECTION 2014: New RGA ad hits Sheheen on Affordable Care Act

Posted by JAMIE SELF on March 18, 2014

The Republican Governors Association announced Tuesday its second ad attacking state Sen. Vincent Sheheen.

The Camden Democrat is Republican Gov. Nikki Haley's expected Democratic challenger in November. The contest will be a re-match for the two candidates. Haley beat Sheheen in the 2010 general election.

The ad features Easley businessman Gregg Hughes, founder of Patriot Solutions:

"Our business doesn't operate without our employees," Hughes says. "When I first got the notice of the increase, I had this sinking feeling in my stomach. It started at 30 percent. To look somebody in the eye and say 'We can't give you a raise, I'm sorry, we no longer have the option' -- Obamacare has cost jobs in my company," he says. "It's a slap in the face to small businesses around the country. The fact that Vincent Sheheen supports Obamacare means he doesn't support South Carolina and he doesn't support small business."

An RGA ad released earlier this month attacked Sheheen for supporting Medicaid expansion under the federal healthcare law.
