Gilbert High School alerts parents about rumors

akflanagan@thestate.comMarch 19, 2014

— Administrators at Gilbert High School sent a letter to parents via email Tuesday in an effort to combat a couple of rumors circulating among students.

The letter says two students received anonymous text messages with “completely different but threatening messages.”

School administrators say they have investigated the texts and found no merit to any of them.

Administrators asked students not to pass along the rumors and not to forward the rumor texts to friends and family.

“We are also asking them to report any rumors they hear or any threatening texts they get to a school administrator or our School Resource Officer, Deputy Matt Rogers,” the letter said. “They will investigate and turn it over to the police, if necessary.”

An anonymous Tip Line is available to students at (803) 821-1232.
