Rising flood waters causes closure of small portion of Riverwalk Park in West Columbia. Riverwalk

Rising flood waters on the Congaree River have prompted West Columbia to close a small portion of Riverwalk Park for the next few days.

The area nearest the Jarvis Klapman Bridge between Columbia Farms and the Moffat Street access path will remain closed until the flood waters go down and the path can be cleared of debris, West Columbia officials said in a release.

There was no word on whether the parking area at the end of Moffat Street is also closed.
